Brian envisions a world where social and economic development are fully compatible with environmental stewardship and where public policy steers capital markets towards these goals. Previously as Chief Innovation Officer for Root Capital, he led the impact and advisory teams and designed impact-linked finance mechanisms to expand lending for new borrowers and support tree crop replanting. He leads the design and implementation of Aceli Africa.

He is also a co-founder, former Director, and Senior Advisor for the Council on Smallholder Agricultural Finance (CSAF), an alliance of 19 impact lenders that promote industry standards and best practices for agricultural SME lending globally. He was named a 2020 Rainer Arnhold Fellow by the Mulago Foundation.
